Ethnic Azerbaijanis in Georgia are not assimilated, says Giorgi Margvelashvili

Ethnic Azerbaijanis living in Georgia are not assimilated, said Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili.

Margvelashvili made the remarks at a meeting with Azerbaijani youth and representatives of the public in Marneuli, which was held within the framework of the “From Independence to Liberty – Centennial of the Republic” campaign, APA’s Georgia bureau reports.

Asked about the problems of integration of national minorities in Georgia, President Margvelashvili said that Azerbaijanis take an active part in the country’s political, cultural and business life.

“The state allocates funds for the study of the Georgian language by national minorities. Novruz holiday is widely celebrated in Marneuli every year. Georgia respects the national traditions and customs of Azerbaijan, and there are no restrictions in this area,” he added.
